Practice Details
U8-U16 teams will have one practice each week for one hour at the Transylvania County soccer fields (1078 Ecusta Rd, Brevard, NC 28712). Volunteer coaches choose their practice day and time prior to the season. Due to this, we ask that all registrants for these divisions include any scheduling conflicts for practices. We cannot guarantee that your child will be moved to another team if they are placed on a team whose practice conflicts with their schedule. Most coaches choose Monday-Thursday for practice days, between 4:30-6:30pm.
Safety Information
TYSA guarantees that volunteer coaches will complete their NCYSA Risk Management Application and SafeSport training and have their background check approved prior to actively coaching. We prepare them with a coaches meeting, Coaching Guides for each division, and a free grassroots coaching course. They are responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and encouragement to their players. However, they are not caregivers and should not be treated as such. Parents/guardians should plan to stay for the duration of practices and games be engaged with their child's behavior and needs. Everyone's experience will be better for it! On Saturdays, a first aid kit will be available at the TYSA tent for the duration of games.
Game Details
All games will start at either 9AM or 10:15AM. The schedule for the season will be posted on Recreation Resources.

KinderKix and U6 will not meet during the week for practice, but will meet every Saturday for the 8 week season. KinderKix will practice/play for 45-60 minutes. KinderKix will likely be split into groups of 10 or less, depending on registration. U6 will be split into individual coed teams and will practice for 30 minutes, then play a matchup against another U6 team for 30 minutes.
U8-U16 will be placed on a team and the Recreation Director will communicate rosters and practice schedules. Practices will be for 60 minutes, once/week with one game scheduled every Saturday for 8 weeks. Depending on registration and volunteers, we will tentatively have a U8/U10 Girls league (playing other girls teams), U12 will be split into individual coed teams, and U14/16 will engage in pool play (one large coed group practicing together and split into even teams on Saturdays).
Volunteers are needed as Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches & Team Parents!
Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are encouraged to attend our Coaches Clinic where they will receive their practice resources, equipment, and any other support they need to make this a fun and positive learning experience for everyone! Questions? Email rec@tysa.us!
Recreation players are responsible for ordering their jerseys from Lloyd's Soccer. TYSA recommends ordering jerseys by July 16th to receive them in time for the first games on September 6th. Players will ONLY be responsible for purchasing a NAVY jersey, and they do not need to purchase another one if they still have one from a previous season. *Players registered through The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club and El Centro will not be responsible for ordering their jerseys through Lloyd's (this will be completed by TYSA and the partner organization). Please reach out to rec@tysa.us with any questions regarding jersey orders.
FAQs
Which jersey do I need to buy for my child?
All divisions: 1 NAVY jersey (individual teams will wear pinnies)

What is the cost of each jersey?
Each jersey is $15 via Lloyd's soccer. If you are not able to buy jerseys for your child, please reach out to tysasoccer@gmail.com. Our mission is to serve any child, regardless of socioeconomic status, through our programs, and any email requests we receive to waive the jersey fee will be confidential.
Who does not have to order jerseys?
Players who participated in a previous recreation program season can wear the NAVY jersey from a previous season, and any jersey ordered for this spring season can be used for subsequent seasons. Players registered through El Centro and The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County are not required to order their jerseys - TYSA will place a bulk order for these players before the season.
When do I need to order my jerseys to receive them for the Fall 2025 season?
Jerseys should be ordered at least two weeks (14 days) before the start of the season in order to receive them by the first game day.
Why is TYSA requiring families to order jersey for players?
TYSA is a small non-profit with one staff member coordinating the recreation program for approximately 300 players each season. This will significantly reduce the legwork required in ensuring each player receives their jersey, and Lloyd's Soccer has made the process simple to order jerseys.
